Regional information

Switzerland

Wallis:
Wallis is situated in the south and borders Italy. Fiesch is located in the German-speaking part of the country. Due to its location to the south of the Alpine central massif, Wallis has subtropical summers and produces the best Swiss wines. The winters bring a lot of snow – famous ski areas such as Zermatt, Saas Fee, Crans Montana, Verbier, Bettmeralp, Riederalp and Fiescheralp are all located here.

The Goms:
The Goms is one of the most extensive cross-country ski areas in Switzerland, with beautiful trails between Oberwald and Niederwald. The surroundings offer ample opportunities for cross-country skiing through the vast Goms cross-country ski area (Goms 100 km of trails in Fieschertal and smaller trails in the Aletsch region) as well as for hiking and snowshoeing.

Fiesch:
Fiesch is about 900 km from the Dutch border at an elevation of 1,050 metres and has 1,000 inhabitants. Fiesch is situated in splendid region that offers opportunities for active vacations in all seasons but, thanks to its tranquil character, is also an ideal village to enjoy peace and quite with family, friends, or even alone.

Fiesch and the UNESCO World Heritage List:
Fiesch is located in the Aletsch region, which is dominated by the biggest glacier in the Alps, the Aletsch Glacier, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List due to its unique area of natural beauty.
Fiesch offers much more to its visitors than just beautiful views. The village is surrounded by wonderful ski runs and is also a paradise for hikers. There are official schools for mountain climbing, delta flying and parasailing. There are also many golf courses.
Fiesch is also a great home base for taking excursions to Italy, with Lake Maggiore and Lake Como only about an hour’s driving distance and Milan a 2-hour drive away. Milan is 212 km from Fiesch and can also be reached by train from the village.

Ski area:
You can ski, snowboard and cross-country ski in Fiesch from the beginning of December through the week after Easter (mid-April). From Eggishorn you have a spectacular view of the Aletsch Glacier but you can also see the famous Matterhorn in Zermatt.
The cable car, a mere 5-minute walk from the Chalet, brings you to the adjoining ski areas of the Fiescheralp, where you can reach the (pedestrian only) Alpine villages and ski areas of Bettmeralp and Riederalp (2,200-2,900 metres).
